According to 3DJuegos, Jagex has published an open letter, "Reignited: where we go from here", admitting that current players feel they are no longer its priority and taking responsibility. Reignited, announced at RuneFest 2026, is a parallel RuneScape mode where you start from scratch in a new world, with its own economy and separate leaderboards.
The community feared it would split the player base, require an extra account and leave some items and cosmetics behind. Jagex has not cancelled it, but says it will reassess it with the aim of protecting veterans' progress. Days earlier it had already apologised for using generative AI in a trailer from the event.
