Bloomberg reported on October 12 that Epic Games has told the teams on its unannounced Marvel and Star Wars shooter, made with Disney, to adopt an "AI-first" approach: no handwritten code and, per an internal message attributed to a director, art "generated with full AI workflows". The project is also reportedly running behind schedule.
According to VGC, which relays the report, the announcement left some staff "stunned" on a video call, and they were told production would use tools such as Anthropic's Claude with humans guiding the work. An Epic spokesperson said the company is embracing AI-accelerated development led by its developers. Tim Sweeney wrote on X that a "huge pivot" is underway toward "maximum AI acceleration", and that the aim is to build more and better rather than do the same with fewer people.
