Mojang has opened pre-orders for Minecraft on Switch 2, which launches October 27, 2026. Owners of the digital Switch edition can move to the Switch 2 Standard Edition at no cost until the end of January 2027, only through the eShop. Nintendo Life notes that the offer excludes Japan and Taiwan.
For those who do not qualify, the game costs $29.99, according to Nintendo Life, and includes the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade and the Super Mario Mash-Up pack. Discounted upgrades to the Deluxe and Ultimate Collection editions will also be available. The physical Switch 2 version is a Game-Key Card and, for now, no upgrade path has been announced for Switch cartridge owners.
